POLITICAL CORRECTNESS AND SPACE SHUTTLE COLUMBIA

There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
(Proverbs 16:25)

Let me start off by saying that we at Bible Christian Outreach are saddened by the tragedy involving the space shuttle Columbia that occurred on February 1, 2003. My prayers go out to the families of those astronauts. I wanted to wait a little while before I made any comments about this, but now I will take the liberty to express some things I find disturbing concerning Columbia and NASA.

As you know, any kind of catastrophe that happens always has a question attached to it. The question of what caused the catastrophe. Let me give you my answer to what I think contributed to the Columbia disaster. Could it be political correctness? I know what you might be thinking but please read the whole context of what I will say.

It has been reported by a few trustworthy information sources, including a famous talk radio program, about a previous launch the Columbia shuttle did back in 1997. To my surprise, some foreign debris hit the tiles on one of the wings back in 1997, just like the debris (possibly ice) hit the left wing tiles during its launch in January 2003. It was also reported that when Columbia was in orbit in 1997 that it was hit with small pieces of meteor-like rocks that hit the heat-shielding tiles, which is not uncommon in any space mission. But the mystery is how did Columbia arrive back safely in 1997 as opposed to February 1, 2003?

The answer could be found in the repairs that NASA did to Columbia after its successful mission in 1997. They replaced the normal heat-resistant tiles with new "environmental friendly" tiles that were probably not as durable as the regular ones that could endure a little damage from debris. Now if this is the case, then political correctness is to blame for the death of seven astronauts.

Please remember it is political correctness that says not to kill a spotted owl but it is nothing wrong with killing an innocent unborn baby. It is political correctness that tells us to accept the theory of evolution and throw out the Bible. As a result of that, NASA spends millions of dollars to explore the universe to try to answer how the world and all of us came into existence. Secular humanism sure is expensive isn’t it? And yes it is a possibility that NASA was more concerned about the environment than the safety of seven precious lives.

I believe the Columbia tragedy is one of the many things that NASA has a lot of explaining to do to honest taxpaying citizens. Especially the money we spent to explore the possibility of life on Mars (remember that one?). We could save lives as well as our money if we would take heed to what Paul told young Timothy in 1 Timothy 6:20 which says, "O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:"
